Moorebank Intermodal Terminal Demolition and Remediation
About this project
RARE Environmental was engaged to provide environmental services to Liberty Industrial for the soil remediation and building demolition of the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal, Moorebank NSW. The project involved the demolition of 300 buildings, 300,000m2 of concrete removal, excavation of 90km of buried services. Much of the work involved management of asbestos and PFAS contamination.
The Project was the winner of the 2018 Australian Land and Groundwater Association (ALGA) Excellence award’s Best Remediation Project >1M.
How we helped
- Management and implementation of CEMP for state significant demolition and earthworks project;
- Facilitate ER inspections and reporting, close out of environmental incidents;
- Coordination of sub-contractors and consultants;
- Management of construction of sediment and erosion control construction, storm water treatment, testing and discharge to the environment;
- Co-ordination of surface stabilisation, sediment fence installation and isolation of completed work areas;
- Management of Construction Flora and Fauna Management Plan, including management of nest box replacement, habitat tree removal, tree protection zones and invasive weed management;
- Management of Archaeological investigation sub-contractors;
- Management of sustainability indicators and reporting for reporting Infrastructure and Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA).
