Singleton Military Area Lysaght Shed Demolition Project
About this project
RARE was engaged by Country Wide Environmental Hygiene Consultants Pty Ltd to undertake the demolition of 12 Lysaght sheds within the Lone Pine Barracks, Singleton Military Area (SMA).
The sheds had been identified as surplus to Defence’s requirements and therefore required demolition.
An asbestos-containing product known as ‘tremtape’ was present between each metal sheet join throughout the sheds. As a result, all demolition works were required to be managed under asbestos conditions to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
How we helped
- Developed comprehensive project documentation, including an Asbestos Removal Control Plan and a Demolition Control Plan.
- Mobilised a team of experienced asbestos and demolition personnel.
- Asbestos and demolition site set up encompassing multiple sheds.
- Executed the controlled demolition of each shed with tremtape in situ, ensuring compliance with asbestos management protocols.
- Applied a PVA solution to the tape between sheet joins before demolition and placed metal sheets onto geofabric before load-out to minimise contamination.
- Managed asbestos waste transport and disposal, including full EPA tracking.
- Restored each site to pre-demolition conditions, ensuring a clean and compliant handover.
