Lake Parramatta Swim Platform
About this project
The Lake Parramatta Swimming Area Upgrade project focuses on improving accessibility and reducing ongoing maintenance at one of Parramatta’s key recreational sites. This project involves various civil works, including the installation of new pavements, steps, and underwater retaining walls. Additionally, it includes the installation of new signage, garden beds, and swimming area furniture to enhance the visitor experience and ensure safety.
This upgrade highlights the City of Parramatta’s commitment to enhancing public amenities while preserving the natural environment. The Lake Parramatta Swimming Area will be revitalised into a safer and more accessible space for the community, further solidifying its role as a key recreational destination.
How we helped
Key challenges for this project include managing the environmental impact on the sensitive lake ecosystem and ensuring that construction activities do not disrupt the natural habitat.
The project required careful planning and execution. The submarine sandbag retaining wall was constructed using a robotic Trimble Total Station and Field Link software to create a 3D model of the retaining wall, allowing us to place each bag with millimetre precision into the desired location without having a visual line of site on the bag. Live scope sonar technology along with traditional bathymetric surveys to ensure that the sandbag was placed as per the design.
Our approach to overcoming the projects challenges involved strict adherence to environmental protection plans, close coordination with the City of Parramatta.
