Heathcote Road Upgrade

About this project

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is upgrading 2.2 km section of Heathcote Road in Sydney’s West, as an important project to reduce congestion, improve road safety and provide reliable access for road users. Heathcote Road connects Sydney’s southern suburbs to the motorway network in the south-west of the city and makes up part of the greater Sydney road infrastructure upgrade plan.

RARE Environmental was engaged by Principle Contractor Ertech Pty Ltd, as project environmental representatives to facilitate environmental compliance and on-site environmental management during the construction phase.

How we helped

  • Implementation of the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) and sub-plans during construction
  • Site environmental monitoring including:
    • Water quality
    • Dust
    • Noise
    • Erosion and Sediment Control
  • Delivering on site training in the form of environmental toolboxes
  • Conducting environmental risk assessments for activities
  • Working with the engineering teams and subcontractors for the successful management of environmental compliance during all phases of construction
  • Developing and maintaining a relationship with TfNSW
  • Attending and coordinating site audits and regular client meetings/inspections
  • Responding to and investigating environmental incidents.
