EHO Kempsey Friable Asbestos House Demolition
About this project
A residential property in Kempsey suffered a catastrophic fire that extensively damaged the dwelling. Following assessment by hazmat consultants EHO, it was determined that many of the asbestos linings within the structure had been severely degraded by heat and were classified as friable asbestos.
As an experienced national Class A asbestos removalist and demolition contractor, RARE Environmental was engaged by EHO under the insurance claim process to undertake an initial asbestos make safe, followed by the complete demolition of the dwelling to ground level under controlled conditions.
How we helped
- Development of comprehensive project documentation, including a detailed Asbestos Removal Control Plan, Demolition Control Plan and regulator notifications.
- Coordination and communication with surrounding residents to advise of upcoming works.
- Establishment of robust asbestos management controls, including clearly signposted exclusion zones, temporary fencing, and a fully equipped three-stage decontamination unit.
- Execution of the safe demolition of the property under constant supervision and strict asbestos control measures.
- Application of a dust-suppressant polymer throughout demolition to lock down friable debris and prevent airborne contamination.
- Coordination with local waste facilities for the safe transport and disposal of asbestos-contaminated demolition material.
- Progressive load-out and transport of asbestos waste under EPA consignment tracking.
- Ongoing independent air monitoring and clearance by a Licensed Asbestos Assessor.
- Final site clean-up and levelling upon completion of all works.
