RARE was engaged by Acciona Ferrovial Joint Venture (AFJV) to assist in the assessment and management of contamination associated with the Sydney Metro West (SMW) – Central Tunnelling package.  The role involved a full-time embedded resource, assisting AFJV with the procurement, coordination and management of contaminated land consultants for the $1.96 Billion project.  The SMW alignment comprised five above ground metro station sites, linked by dual tunnels over the 24km alignment. The role included:

• Procurement of environmental consultants for the 5 station sites
• Procurement of an independent NSW EPA contaminated lands site auditor
• Co-ordination of five detailed site investigations and remediation as required.

RARE continues to provide oversight and guidance on all environmental issues for the project.
